Sylvan Weekends
EP
Right, I had a little thought on the bus for EP tie in and to basically set in stone artwork, themes and music videos and basically save some time and get something comprehensive (scroll down for a break down of each track).
So it got me thinking. It's too late to do a weird theme that links the songs as they're already written, but why not just make the theme about US. Us 3 and why we've started Sylvan Weekends. Perhaps we play on Escapism a little and the idea that each track is linked to escaping the humdrum. Can say like 'Matthew and Freya started writing the EP together on the first weekend away etc..'
I was thinking that the track list order could be the same as the order we're releasing in and the title track (although not focus track) could be Outliers to go with the idea of escapism and us creating a project out of the woods one summer.

There's more on it at the very bottom, but why don't we just use a photo from the original cabin shoot for the EP artwork. We already have it for banners and photos and it makes total sense to tie in the whole first campaign. I know we used it for Every Day, but we can say that it was our first release and this EP brings it full circle. The photos are great and we haven't really used them properly for industry yet, so why don't we make the EP an introduction to us and how/why we started. Scroll below for break down of each track, music vid idea and artwork. Then final EP
Every Day
Theme - Escaping technology, messaging every day. If the track is first on EP then it has another chance with industry when we do a proper campaign now we have a bit of presence.
Artwork - Our first single. We can go into Distrokid and make the artwork fractured like the rest of the singles to tie.
Video - Done - Us live, introduction to us.
Symmetry
Vision
Theme - Reflective, born out of the sea and pensive. Can always do some bullshit about Freya growing up around the sea and us at the ponds of Keston ha, but probs won't need it. 'So make your mind up, when we going to start?' could be the beginning of the project.
Artwork - A mirrored lake distorted.
Video - Lyric video already done, back to the sea and aggressiveness and beauty of it.
Can also do a live session in Devon (thanks Freya's mum!).
Young & Freewheeling
Theme - Reflective, looking back to being young and Freewheeling and hoping to hold onto the feeling. Us looking back and wanting to create a project that makes us feel alive.
Artwork - Little girl on bike distorted. She's the symbolism of our youth.
Video - 3 of us on bikes filmed in Jan (Matthew and Freya currently pondering ideas)
Outliers
Theme - Daring to do differently. Like the Road not taken by Robert Frost, we want to be Outliers with this project (although we need to say without looking like wankers!). Title track of the EP (but not focus)
Artwork - Freya I think you mentioned you quite liked the Hot air balloons for Outliers and I agree. Something quite nice about floating and detatching from the rest of the world. Nice symbolism to go with theme.
Video - I was thinking, why don't we get a really beautiful, free video of hot air balloons just floating and make a beautiful lyric video out of it? We'll have Freewheeling and 185 book ending this single so we may not need a full blown music video with our faces and we can make a really beautiful poignant lyric video and will cost nothing/very little time and still have same effect.

Theme - The focus track of EP launch (although last track of EP) Theme is about the 185. The bus that links both of our houses. We can play more on this if we want. 'We're witnesses to history, I'd rather watch it all with you, the stories we're collecting now, I'm hoping they will carry us through' - We can make the chorus the theme and conclusion of the EP. We want to make music together to collect stories together.
Artwork - We don't need artwork as it'll be a focus track. We can pitch to spotify etc.. as EP focus track
Video - Something with us in. We were talking about maybe filming some footage of the 185 bus and stuff and then projecting it onto our faces like She drew the gun. Let's have a think. I reckon maybe a little studio and projector. Maybe instruments as well. Can basically be free though to shoot.
OUTLIERS
(EP)
Theme - The origin of Sylvan Weekends. I like the idea of Outliers, I think it sets a nice precedent for the rest of our music. As well as a person being an outlier, a piece of land can as well and it goes well with the Sylvan, born out of the woods vibe.
Artwork - Why don't we use a photo from the woodland shoot? I really think we should keep all of that stuff as our banner etc.. till late summer when we switch to next EP. They're such good photos and we have them in all manner of formats for doing stuff with. The trio was born out of that weekend (as far as anyone else is concerned) when Freya joined us for a few songs for the Stables gig and we stayed the evening and decided to play some more together, so I reckon first EP should be about that. We can really push the fact the songs are co-written by Matthew and Freya as a collab as well, so it feels like a real fusion and we can say the 3 of us just felt right that weekend playing together, it was natural etc..
Video - Don't need one, but we can do a promo vid of course.
